Frying Pan Alley: Baba Yaga in East London
Frying Pan Alley: Baba Yaga in East London and other migration stories (working title) is a new musical in development by Evi Stamatiou (book writer/director) and Ben Glasstone (composer/lyricist). The work brings together musical theatre and socially engaged theatre with the aim of developing new audiences for midsize venues and socially engaged works.
A showing of the second Research and Development workshop (Baba Yaga in East London, Second R&D) was presented at Little Angel Studio in June 2018. Creatives included Tom Espiner from Blind Summit (performer/puppetry director), Alison Alexander (designer/puppet maker) and the performers Carly Mercedes Dyer, Celeste Veazey, Dylan Wynford, Gilbert Taylor, Hannah Marshall, Seyi Omooba and Tilly-Mae Millbrook (see in the picture gallery below). The second R&D was supported by New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth, Little Angel Theatre, Blind Summit Theatre, Monstro Theatre, Book Music & Lyrics Workshop, #ChiTheatreWorks at the University of Chichester and the Arts Council of England.
